Just my kind of recipe - S.I.M.P.L.E & G.O.O.D

Sometimes, things just click....you are not in the mood to cook, but you have to eat....so you throw in a few things that you have on hand and come up with something that tastes really good. This is something that came out of just such a situation. The prep work required is minimal....you don't even have to chop onions. Doesn't get simpler than that, does it??? There are no measurements 'coz I just used up whatever I had on hand.

Here's what I did:
Boil some potatoes, peel them and dice them.
Grind together some tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chillies.
Heat some oil. Add some jeera to it and then the ground paste. Boil for a few minutes until the raw smell goes away, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt and a little bit of sugar. Stir well, add some water if needed and then add in the diced potatoes and heat for a minute or two.
There....that's it.....you're done.
Didn't I tell you it was simple???

We call it Hurbhe Jeere mein Aloo in Sindhi, its same except with cumin, add few seeds of Fenugreek(Methidana) and i am sure you will notice a much pleasing change in flavor
Sometime comfort food is all that we need and this is surely one, jhatpat ban jaaye and yummy too.And we have this with poori or sweet rice(Thayri)as festival food :-)

Thank you for stopping by, Indhu....
J, true....even if you just add some salt to mashed potatoes and eat it, it tastes good.
Sra, but grinding is so much easier than chopping all that ginger, garlic and tomatoes into tiny pieces, right??? This way the blender does all the hard work.
Happy, Ramya....thank you....and yes, the tomatoes did add a tanginess to the dish.

Asha, happens to me so often...I try to recreate something that I put together and I find that I've forgotten what went into it. That's why I wanted to record this "recipe" so I wouldn't forget.
Madhu, Dibs....it's the "simple" part that I really liked...the "tasty" is a welcome bonus.
Alka, so this has a name??? There you go....you've just popped my bubble. I was so happy thinking that this is something original that I've come up with :-))
Srimathi, yes...potatoes in any form are always welcome with or without the puris.

This curry for me is for days my cook shows up in the morning and asks me what to cook; and my honest answer is "I have no clue". Which means I eat it quite a lot :)
