It's not food but it's been on my mind lately

  • Why do most women insist on babying the men in their lives even though the men are usually much older???
  • Why do they act as if their sole purpose in life is to carry out the whims and fancies of their husband/boyfriend/whatever???
  • Why does it make me mad when I see perfectly intelligent women let their lives revolve around deciding on what their husband should wear to work and then go about happily laying out his clothes. C'mon Iam sure it won't kill him to take his own clothes out of the wardrobe or to make himself(and you) a cup of coffee.
  • Why do people give out unsolicited advise??? Is there some law out there which I am not aware of that says that you should butt into things that just aren't your concern in any way? Oh.....and if you have a baby...you are done for.....literally everyone from the watchman to the corporation worker who sweeps the road will have some gyan for you.
  • Why do some people think that the purpose of a "No entry" board is to give them a stretch of road on which they can test their bike's maximum acceleration???
Edited to add: A lot of you wanted to know what brought this on.......The answer to that is both simple and complex.....observing the way a lot of people I know have changed is one of the reasons.....the other is the fact that people tell me Iam "lucky" to have a husband who helps out around the home and with the kid. What has luck got to do with it??? Why is it my "duty" to do things while it is my "luck" to have a partner who willingly shares my chores???

Jayashree- WOW, Seems like someone has been pissing you off lately or you've just observed these around you. Either ways, I am totally with you on all the pointers, loved the first one. Wives babying their older husbands, why does it happen, I keep asking myself this all the time I overdo things for my hubby.

Men are such big babies really - Part conditioning and part laziness I think. Perhaps you are just sounding off, but at some point it is important to gently but firmly make a stand or so i think - as far as the men part is concerned, because otherwise the next generation will end up inheriting such bad behaviors. Sorry long comment.

Take care!

Perfectly agree with you Jayashree. I think girls are brought up like that right from their childhood.

Girl..somebody pissed you off real good huh?..I hate people advicing me without thinking much or who doesn't even know me well.I hate it especially when it comes to my kids.I try hard to listen politely and just take what works for me.I'm just glad that my husband choses his clothes and even makes coffee for me before leaving for office..:D

I have reached the conclusion that intelligence and common sense are two different qualities all together and unfortunately as a society we seem to be sorely lacking in common sense.

I always say this- there is something off with the way kids , esp boys, are brought up in India. It's as if boys/men should NOT lift a finger to do any household chores while the women are expected to toil at home after a day at work! In a way, you are "lucky" (ok, don't get mad now!) :)in that your hubby was brought up well & is part of probably 0.1% of the desi population! :)
N needs to be pushed. And when my MIL is here, he does nothing but my thinking is, if my MIL wants to run around for him, she can be my guest!
