Rediscovered pleasures

Eating a moovandan mambazham (a variety of mango that grows abundantly in Kerala) whole....juices dripping down my fingers

Plucking fresh vegetables from the garden

No cooking

Waking up la....te (I do that often), but it's a nice and welcome change when u wake up and find that your daughter has already had her teeth brushed and drunk her glass of milk.

Teaching the little girl to drink honey from a thechi poo....I have no idea what it is called in English, and am just too lazy to google it.....so here's a picture.

We used to call that flower ixora, and I was just thinking about its nectar/sipping the other day! I think it's because I saw a very unusual colour of it somewhere - magenta.

Plucking fresh vegs is great fun too

Hello - I was just being jobless today and decided to google my own name and see what happens.... "My experiments with food" kinda caught my attention.

You have reminded me of my manga eating days during school holidays and sucking honey from the thecci poovu......mmmmm...would love to do all that again.

Chalo have a great day!

You took me back to my summer hols... We kids, used to wait under the tree for a mambhazham to fall down. The smell of moovandan mambhazham is enough to make me nostalgic.

Now that you mention it, I remember that ixora is what it is called. I've only come across the yellow and red varieties.
Thx, Bee....
Ramya, children are so easily pleased by the little things that are around us....and it makes us look at things with a fresh perspective as well.

Happy, take a vacation during mambazha kalam, girl....so you can do all that again.
Cham, nothing matches the satisfaction you get from cooking what you've grown.
Renu, hope you're having lots of fun on your vacation.

Jayashree....I do that too....sometimes I google my name and see what comes up. Neways, Iam glad you stopped by...thx....and do visit again.
Jayasree, I never had the patience to wait for mangoes to fall. I always used to throw stones and make them fall whenever I wanted one.

You took me back to my childhood with that pic. I used to love picking those flowers for pooja.

Nowadays, its so difficult to find this flower in Kerala. After all, we export flowers from Tamil Nadu during Vishu and Onam.

Keep writing. Loved your blog.
